First Time Freshman Checklist

Making the transition from high school to college can be an easy process. Entering college for the first time requires some paperwork. The checklist below will help you keep track of what is to be completed.

1 ) Campus Tour *

Schedule a Campus Visit to tour the HCC campus or take a Virtual Tour.

2 ) Apply for Admission

The admissions application is an easy online step to getting your foot into the door at HCC. If you prefer, you can also request a paper application or come by admissions and we will help you fill it out.

3 ) Cost, Scholarship and Financial Aid *

Complete and send in the scholarship application. (Priority deadline for Scholarship application is Feb. 15th)

4 ) Housing *

HCC Residence Hall Contract Packets are available on the HCC Residence Life Webpage, under Documents. Please print, fill out and sign contract forms. Scan the filled out forms and a copy of your immunization records and email them to ResHall@hutchcc.edu or mail to HCC Res Life, 1300 N. Plum, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
Call the HCC Business Office at 620-665-3509 and submit your dorm deposit, have your student ID number handy. Your file is not complete until your contract is submitted and your deposit is paid. Housing fills up quickly, apply as soon as possible. Contracts are available by February 1. If you are looking for off campus housing, check out Hutchrents.com

5 ) Submit Official College Transcripts

Request a completed offical copy of your college transcript(s) to be mailed to the Admissions Office.

6 ) Enrollment/ Testing

Complete registration process as instructed by the Admissions Office. In most cases this will mean attending an Enrollment Day.

HCC requires a minimum Reading competency for all classes and certain classes require a minimum English or Math standard. If you submit ACT scores, you may not have to take additional placement tests, call Admissions Office for more information.

The HCC Residence Halls provide a home away from home for approximately 420 students in two co-ed dormitories, Elland Hall and Kent Hall. Our dorm rooms are clean and spacious, with the latest in modern amenities.
