The Hutchinson Community College livestock judging team returned home from the prestigious AKSARBEN Stock Show in Grand Island, NE with several honors, including being named the Champion Overall Sophomore Team. Contributing to this accomplishment were a championship in Reasons, a championship in Cattle, a reserve championship in Sheep Judging and a fourth place finish in Swine Judging. In addition, seven students earned top 15 honors, including four sophomores and three freshmen. The sophomore team was led by Justin Mosher (Olathe, CO) who finished 6th Overall, 6th in Reasons, 9th in Cattle, and 8th in Swine; Tyler Bush (Britton, SD) who was 7th Overall, 9th in Reasons, and 2nd in Cattle; Trace Mulligan (Scott City, KS) was 11th Overall, 2nd in Reasons, 8th in Sheep; Grady Hammer (Wallace, KS) finished 14th Overall and 5th cattle; Matthew Chaney (Union Bridge, MD) was 3rd in Cattle and Dixie Miller (Farmington, AR) finished 7th in Cattle. Also at AKSARBEN, the freshmen judging team finished 5th Overall after a 3rd place showing in Team Cattle, 4th place in Team Swine and a 5th place in Reasons. Individually for the freshmen, Kodie Doetzel (Lipton, SK, Canada) was 9th Overall and 8th in Cattle; Shelley Rowlett (Martin, TN) was 13th Overall and 4th in Cattle; Danielle Nading (Fort Scott, KS) was 15th Overall and 2nd in Reasons; and Macy Collins (Meeker, CO) finished 8th in Sheep. The HutchCC livestock judging team is coached by instructor of agriculture and Livestock Judging coach Ben Williams and assistant coach Pat Arkfeld.
