The CPAT is a sequence of events requiring you to progress along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner. This test was developed to allow fire departments to obtain pools of trainable candidates who are physically able to perform essential job tasks at fire scenes. Testing is done at our Fire Science East facility, 11319 S. Halstead Rd., Hutchinson, KS 67501. For more information contact HCC Fire: 620-728-4460 or 728-4461.
HutchCC Fire Science is offering on-line education for current and future fire officers. All courses necessary for certification, up to and including Fire Officer II, are now available as on-line courses. The Fire Officer courses are taught entirely on line and can be easily completed while the student is at the station; all that is needed is a computer with internet access. These courses were specifically designed to help educate the line firefighter/officer with minimum impact on their days off.
For eligible career firefighters and their departments, we now have an approved Fire Officer Leadership Apprenticeship through the Kansas Department of Commerce. These apprenticeships have funding available for tuition costs, with the amount varying in different parts of the State. This is an 18-month program, including 16 credit hours of course work, and requires 3,000 hours of on-the-job skills development. Contact Chief Jeff Deal, Retired, at 620-728-4465, or by email at email@example.com, for more information.
